Outrage! Let's send a message to WotC!

Er, my big problem with WotC and the revision is that they seem to be using pretty deceptive tactics.

What happened to "completely backwards-compatible?"

Don't look that way to me now, nossir.

It's like the deal they made with SSS over the Tome of Horrors, and then immediately broke. "No, we won't put our official versions of these monsters... go ahead and convert them!"

Yeah, yeah, intellectual property blah blah blah didn't have to let them anything, I know, I know... my point is, it seems that the ethics at WotC have been melting down for a while now.

y-y-you m-mean wizards of t-the coast is out to make a a a p-profit?

things were so much better when we all lived at home.

download the srd, keep what you like and houserule the rest. it's not the constitution; you can get around that much easier.

My small group bought 3E when it first came out. We were all 2E veterens and had a ream of house rules to make 2E more playable for us. We were really hyped about 3E and we were somewhat disappointed after a few sessions. After a while, we just shelved 3E and went back to that comfortable old shoe that was 2E. I'm excited about the possibility that 3R may be more to my group's taste. Some of the changes I've read about on these boards have piqued my interest. This time the group is going to pitch in to buy the DMG, and then we'll make a final decision. I know the rules are supposed to be posted electronically, but I just find it easier to absorb from a book.
Just my point of view.

Alright, what does B&M mean?

I think one reason there are so many complaints/arguments/"fanboi" etc is that everyone has a different gaming style.

IMC I'd like combats to last more than two rounds, so getting rid of haste and a slight save-or-die nerf is a good thing, IMO.

However, there are people who insist that, as DM, they can handle that. That's fine...

but some of those people will then insult someone else's DMing style, or complain that changes were made for bad DMs.

Tee hee. People on my side of the fence will, of course, sometimes flame as well (eg "you're a moron if you think [insert spell] wasn't broken").

The books are already at the printer...meaning that neither debate, discussion, nor complaint will do any good.

Wrong. Errata and additions or revisions made by d20 publishers will handle almost every aspect that is currently under debate...and many you will never discover until they are already revealed to you.

Nobody has ever used a rule that as a group they didn't like. 3E+ is just some more rules that people will either like or not like and consequently use or not use - so there's no reason to get upset about it.

Really? I bet you as much as you like that lots of people have used rules they didn't like. Just because people should feel free to house rule, doesn't mean they do.

Comfortable old shoe? Really? we doubled our average number of sessions in a month after 3e came out, because we were all having so much more fun.

Personally, I'm fairly happy eith the current rules, but I'm pretty sure that 3.5 will be an improvement.
