Overland map (inspired by hellhound)

Thanks to hellhound's 'how to create parchments' tutorial featured in recent thread, I've had a go at creating a few parchments of my own - incorporating some map graphics (which I have recently finished) over the top.

So here's one of my attempts...

So far I am happy with the result - so hellhound if you are reading this - thanks for getting me started :D

Note that hellhound reveals his parchment technique in the following thread:

Nice stuff.

Love the fold lines in the parchment, particularly. The only thing I would change is the border of the map proper, make it less 'perfect'

Thanks for the kind words.

make it less 'perfect'

Yeah, I think the actual map graphic I overlaid on top of the parchment looks a little too perfect for a realistic looking map (especially the border) - but it was something I had already nearly finished drawing up, and so I thought I would drop it on top of the parchment - just to see how it looked.

I think the next time I do something like that I'm gonna try for an more hand drawn appearance (rather than the crisp vector graphics in this one).

What software did you use?

For the actual parchment I used adobe photoshop (pretty much as in HH's recent tutorial), and for the map details I used a really cheap and nasty vector graphics program called GreenStreet Draw4 (basically a poor man's version of something like adobe illustrator), and then used photoshop again to overlay it onto the parchment.

Thanks Again!
