Overused DnD words for 2005 (it's that time again)

How about those overused words:

Two from last year:

1 & 2. Ubiquitous and Verisimilitude (I mean really!)

And a couple new ones that really need to go away:

3. Harry Potter

4. Session - I don't know why this word bugs me (it really does) when descibing DnD get-togethers. A session is something you have with your therapist when you can't ignore the voices. I call them "gatherings". :)

Oh and one more:

5. Uber

Banish these words!

Fluff.

Not crunch, mind you. Crunch, when used is usually correctly applied.

Fluff, however, is applied to things that aren't really fluff.

Actually, I kinda like verisimillitude when it's used correctly. Ubiquitous, too. They're great words. We use session, too.

Damn.

Retcon this and retcon that and everything is a retcon even when talking about something that doesn't have anything to do with a retcon. Retcon the retcon.

But but but....I use the word sesion all the time...
And overused refers to what exactly? ;)

See no problem with ubiquitous myself.

Verisimilitude I'm torn on. I do understand what it means when it comes from gaming circles. But it's a hijacked word. In the real world, it's a synonym for "realistic."

Session... makes perfect sense to me and I vastly prefer it to manufactured synonyms that some game authors put in their game. (see also: game master, campaign, adventure, PC.)

Using something when you don't need to.

When correctly and appropriately used, even if that is "all the time", it's not overused. ;)
