overwhelming strike and reach weapons

I am an avenger using a greatspear, yup.. I am funky like that.

I have Overwhelming strike as an at-will.

I attack ! Using reach.
then..
I shift 1 square away (i am now 2 squares away from my target)
and..
I slide the target 1 square (as per the power description) into the square I occupied.

well. no can do ! I was using a reach weapon, I would need to slide him 2 squares so that he occupies my former square.


How do you interpret that ??

per Customer Service/ FAQs, if the target cannot reach the destination square with the allotted forced movement, either because there is not enough movement or the destination is occupied, the forced movement fails... the target remains in his original location.

You need something like Rushing Cleats for this to work.

More interestingly, if you have a non-reach weapon but have +1 slide distance from something... then you shift 1 square and slide the enemy 2 squares into the square you just occupied.

I guess it can go the scenic route ?
