Randy Rhodes was great, but he is benefitting from the Hendrix/Moon syndrome.

Agreed. Except that Rhodes died stupidly. It wasn't just some random plane crash, they were buzzing the tour buss and clipped it when they went down.

Stupid.

Randy for the win. Iommi was an innovator, no question, but Randy was better.

But how good would Randy have been if he'd had no fingertips? ;)

"I lost them under a guillotine in a factory where I was working and I was told that I would never be able to play guitar again. By then I was already hooked on the instrument and couldn't believe that I'd have to stop. So I just carried on trying and eventually made some plastic tips, which I took to the hospital so that they could make proper ones for me to use. Even after that though, it was hard and I had to completely re-adjust my style of playing because, for a start, you can't feel the strings with the tips."

"There's certain things, chords especially, which other guitarists can play that I can't. So I've found that I've had to discover different ways of doing them. I still have to wear caps and if I break one it's a bit like having to stick the end of your finger on again."

Just heard about this last weekend's Ozzfest. No offense to Iron Maiden or their supporters (which I am) was intended by this untimely topic.

Yeah, I just heard about that today. I'm not s metal fan anymore, but Iron Maiden is the one group I still listen to (as recently as last night). Bruce may spout off more than he should, but Iron Maiden definitely came off as classy.

What happened?

Apparently, on direction from Sharon Osbourne, members of some of the other bands threw eggs and beer at Maiden, cut the sound several times, chanted "Ozzy" over the PA while Maiden was finishing it's set, and then Sharon came on stage and called Bruce "a pr**k".

Oh well, I guess my first Ozzfest this year was also also my last. No big loss there. Aside from Maiden, the rest of the bands ranged from just ok to awful.
