Ozzy has passed. Pour one out for the Prince of Darkness.

I first got into Ozzy in 1986, when I was 10 years old. My cousin--the same one who would get me into D&D later that year--gave me a taped copy of Blizzard of Ozz. It was my first taste of heavy metal and the occult, and I can honestly say it changed my life.

Rest in Power, prince of darkness.

My first DM was a college student, my buddy’s older brother. We were in Middle school, so of course we worshipped him. And Black Sabbath was his favourite band, so it automatically became mine as well.

I’m sure I’ve listened to Paranoid hundreds of times since then, and it remains one of my favourite albums, not to mention the rest of Sabbath and Ozzy’s copious discography. So this one hurt. I’m not an afterlife person, but I wish there was a special one just for him.

Have the bats released a statement yet?

Bark at the Moon was my first Ozzy and Heavy Metal album. From there I explored all of his work including Black Sabbath and my other HM artist.

Best music ever.

I had an opportunity to see him live once, got tickets and hotel, etc, but he canceled due to health issues. This was just a few years ago.

I never thought he would die so soon. I assumed he was just one of those people with a super human constitution.

RIP, Ozzy.
