Pages of missing threads?

Albatross!
I'm sure its all related to the database crash, but I'm wondering why pages and pages of threads are not accessible. The General RPG Discussion forum is reporting 42,504 threads - but only thr first four pages of threads appear to be accessible. Meta should have some 4700 threads, but I can only see the first page. Is it a residual glitch, a temporary defensive measure to keep the system running while being fixed up, or something more permanent.

I'm just wondering if all those other threads are lost in some kind of database Bermuda Triangle.

It has to do with the Display Options. Since a vast majority of the threads are from December, they don't show with the default options. In the general forum, I think the default is the last week. That will show the last 155 (or so) threads. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Display Options area. Choose a further date to show threads "from the" [drop down box] and choose the "Last Year". Click the Show Threads button and over 6000 threads will show up.

Since we are missing 4+ months worth of posts, you need to open the options up pretty wide to get several pages worth of threads.

Hope that helps!

"from the last year" seems to work just fine, or if that's not good enough you can always go "back to the beginning" :)

Well, in all fairness, the admins can set default display options and you can set defaults for you in your profile. You could have set it up when you first logged in and forgotten by now. ;) Or they could have changed the default for the forum. Or it could be that you didn't notice there was a default until recently. With EN World's traffic, it is possible to look at General and see a slew of threads without having to backup very many days.

In any event, I am glad that helped.
