PAGING ALL SLAVERS! How much do you sell your slaves for?

Well, most orcs TAKE slaves, why pay for something you can take.:)

True. Supply and Demand. If potential slaves are there in numbers and the taking is easy then the price could be quite low. If they are harder to find and if their are risks and middle men involved then the price is considerably higher.

Foundling slaves were essentially free in the ancient world, however the owners would have to endure costs and wait a considerable number of years before they got any kind of return on invesment.

Killing enemy humanoid tribes is easy -- capturing them, especially their most useful (strong) members, is hard.

At least, without some New and Improved Sleep spells -- but that's my House Rules thread :)

To point out how much slaves are worth, most of Caeser's wealth was from the huge number of slaves he took in his campaigns, sold at pure profit. The gallic tribes had little in the way of treasure, they WERE the treasure. And Caeser wasn't the only one to make a pile of cash this way. You could loot a province if you were the governor, but you might be prosecuted for it. Selling slaves was always without cost to the seller.

But many tribes (human history) accepted slavery after defeat, it was built into their culture. They would either work for their freedom or see if someone would pay their ransom.
