Pathfinder 1E Paizo Adventure Path Subscription Stinker

Until they rectify the issue I intend of buying my Pathfinder adventures and accessories through Amazon.com.

If you don't care about the pdf file of the adventure, this is actually cheaper if you purchase it every other month because then that way, you don't have to pay s/h cause it'll be JUST over 25$.

I've thought about doing this, but I like not having to worry about it and just having them arrive on my doorstep without me having to do anything. With the s/h of the Pathfinder, it's only barely worth having it delivered through the subscription instead of purchasing it anywhere else.

We've tried to keep our customers alerted and aware of the fact that this was going to be a big month with a double shipment... but I can certainly understand how email alerts can get lost in junk or spam filters.

Just FYI, I was taken by surprise by the email stating I'd be getting PF #12 and #13 together. I had been aware that you had a huge number of books to get out this month, but not about that specifically. It didn't bother me (since my subscription is ongoing), but it was a surprise.

After attending a Con yesterday, I'm more convinced than ever that the number of people who prefer 3.5 or a 3.5 derivative is more than just a vocal minority.

I would be shocked if they weren't a minority, and a small(ish) one at that.

However, I also suspect that at this point they won't be changing their minds. Most people who are inclined to try 4e have probably had at least the opportunity to do so, and given that the games are so different, it's no wonder that some just prefer the 3e style. At this point, trying to evangelise the benefits of this wonderful new system will probably serve only to entrench people in their positions.

Of course, I might be utterly wrong.

First of all, I'm sorry that this worked out this way, but it's not a "stunt" by us to get you to continue subscribing to Pathfinder. It's us finally correcting a really bad situation that's been dodging the Pathfinder line since the start. We've tried to keep our customers alerted and aware of the fact that this was going to be a big month with a double shipment... but I can certainly understand how email alerts can get lost in junk or spam filters.

....

Anyway, that's the sordid story. Again, sorry it put you in a tough spot with your subscription, but tomorrow when our office is open shoot customer service a call (or email them at customer.service@paizo.com) and we'll get it sorted out for ya.

Mr Jacobs

This was, as the saying goes, the proverbial "last straw" for me. As of a few minutes ago I'm officially a subscriber to the Pathfinder adventure path :).

Cheers!

No, I think you're quite right.

I know of a few folks who are waiting to see PHB2 (or poss Ari's new book) before they make up their minds.

Classes like Druids, Bards, and Barbarians are important enough to a large enough group of people that this could have a pretty big impact.

I appreciate all the replies to my original post, in particular that from the gentleman from Paizo.

My perspective is this: I subscribed to what is advertised as a monthly publication. I expect to receive one issue a month, every month. I hear you that you have had issues -- those are your issues, not mine. It is not common practice among publishers who offer subscription services to require subscribers to monitor emails, message boards, etc. in order to ensure that a monthly publication is indeed received monthly. Had I subscribed to what was advertised as an "irregularly published" magazine, I'd not be posting about my experience here.

My purpose is solely to relate an experience that I consider unsatisfactory so that other people may be aware of it. In my original post I do not disparage Paizo, and do not suggest that other people emulate my decision. I expressed an opinion (which I described as such) about a behavior, and suggested a motive for that behavior.

I request that further discussion focus on the behavior rather than me, my posts, or Paizo's reputation in general.

This is probably my group. We will be converting the campaign world between campaigns if we go that way, and it'll likely be wrapping next spring. The ability to have illusionists, druids, barbarians and more is an important consideration for us, and the closer they feel to previous editions, the better.

Have you contacted Paizo's customer service as suggested, and if so, how did they respond?

Your suggested motive could be considered disparaging and was demonstrably wrong. As far as I can tell, that's the end of the discussion.
