Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

This isn't unexpected, this is the other shoe dropping.

And it sux.

I don't have any confidence that WotC will publish material set in Greyhawk the way Paizo has been, or that WotC will go out of the way to publish material for retired settings the way Paizo would on rare occassion.

Ive been busy at work and was away at a RPGA convention in Wisconsin over the weekend. I agree 100%. This is total BS. I don't plan on buying the online thing from WOTC I want a hard copy magazine. I LOVE Dragon magazine I have fond memories of the past articles and I think Erik Mona is doing a fantastic job with presenting great new content as well. I am a current subscriber. I might think about the Pathfinder booklets but Im not sure at this point.

It makes me wonder if Paizo is the one who pushed for the news to break now rather then later. It seems like Piazo had all their ducks in a row with the Pathfinder information, covers, and blog entries while WotC was still working out the details of how they were going to handle the situation.

Even if that were the case, given that WotC is the license owner, and how big a corporation it is, I highly doubt Paizo could have forced them to make any announcements before they thought they were ready. I think it's simply that both parties knew how and when the announcement was to be made, and one group took advantage of that knowledge to prepare; the other didn't. Which is not good business.

I imagine they had to because of Gama when they show the distributors the new books and things they are doing.

I tend to agree with Crothian. Paizo had to get ready for GAMA and so the announcement had to be made now. It would not have made a difference to WotC, who could wait an additional month or two for them to fully prepare.

It makes me wonder whether this means that we'll get advance warning on 4e or not.

It seems to me people want to have the new product laid out in detail when the news breaks, but at the same time want to have plenty of advance warning.

It also seems to me these two wishes contradict each other, and that the reaction to this issue could mean that WotC might cut down on the advance warning when 4e comes around, since they might want to have a much more fleshed out product which people can look at when the announcement is made.

It seems to me the crew at WotC at the time did an OK job with the transition from 2e to 3e, so it CAN be done.

I can't imagine anything worse than this news.

Really???

What about the assassination of a high public official? A natural disaster killing thousands and leaving tens of thousands homeless?

Could we please stop with the hyperbolic drama queenerie already?

Magazines are going online.

That is all.

Effective population control. ;)

But really I think he was refering to it on the D&D scope of news.
Talk about dramatizing it.

The "Underwater Companion" stage for 3.5 (hello Stormwrack) is long in the rear view mirror - and there are miles to go yet

I'm still holding out for Races of Water, the Hydronomicon, and Waterscape ;)

Are you saying that WotC will be publishing 2 magazines online, 1 being called Dragon and the other being calledDungeon, in pretty much the same form and content they are now (articles, cartoons, columns like sage advice, reviews, letters page, etc.)? Please provide a link to support your claim.

I am under the impression that WotC will be offering varied online content (and not magazines) which has yet to defined by the company. I could be wrong though.

Get over yourself. This being a discussion forum about D&D, I would assume it is implied that this is in context to D&D gaming.

Obviously, far worse news has occurred in this past week, but not in the context of D&D.
