Some might consider the ouster of Gygax, the co-founder of the game, to have been pretty awful at the time. The game carried on. I imagine some still rank this as the worst thing to happen to the game.
Or when Dragon and Dungeon actually ceased publication suddenly during TSR's final days with no news if they would ever come back. In comparison to right now, we already know there is a replacement... just not in print.

Effectively, the digital initiative means that WotC will be replacing two magazines I currently subscribe to with something that I am simply not interested in. Pathfinder, on the other hand, is something I will definitely be looking into.
