Paladin as a prestige class, where can I find this?

Conflict arises amongst evil and good far more often than evil and evil, by far, so Protection From Good would be of more use.

I would point you towards the Blood War, if you think that the case. Is protection from evil a [Good] spell? If not, then an evil cleric can cast it.

I know what the Blood War is.

But the Blood War isn't the end-all, be-all conflicts of evil (as large as it may be)

Don't forget demons and devils have an innate resistance/reduction of damage against evil type weapons to begin with (and magic, to be sure)

I don't see many demons carrying silver weapons or devils carrying cold iron either.

But I digress, my point being that while this is moreso done at a mechanical standpoint (a ranger/assassin choosing humans as favorite enemies while living in a large city), in the objective alignment system it's more often Good vs Evil, than Evil vs Evil and Good vs Good.

You seem to know exactly what you want. Why not just craft your own paladin-esque PrC to fill the specific role you're trying to fill in your world? Nobody else is going to have made a class that fits perfectly into your vision.

I'm good at ideas, thoughts, and descriptions. But mechanically, especially in creation I still need a lot of experience. That's why I came to Rules.

Hell, if you play an Evil character, why would you need Protection from Evil anyhow?

There is no honour among thieves.

An evil character knows better than any other just how deceptive and backstabbing one can be. Protection from evil would be a WISE move of an evil character. Giving them some sort of protection against other evil acts.

Evil knows evil.

As for the paladin, I recommend that you use the Paladin Prestige class as a base and create you own "Redemptionist" Prestige class. Make the requirements very similar, but instead have an alignment change as part of the prerequisites (this can often cause you to sacrifice previous skills/habits/lifestlye etc)
