I have a kind of parlor trick I use with the games I run that sometimes leads to funny moments. Namely, I treat it like a movie, ask the players to name an actor “playing” their character and I name the actors playing the NPCs.
So the captain, Captain Blood, of the boat they are in is played by Sam Jackson. I had not planned this ahead of time, it just worked out that way in the rolls. He gave a heroic speech, and then a chull rolled a natch on it grapple roll, suddenly grabbled him from behind and swam away.
Sam Jackson needs to avoid the water.
And window ledges.
And playing the piano at road side wedding chapels.
