Just east of the White Deer, near Sandpoint's north gate, you come across a fight. A man in a blue doublet cowers behind a rain barrel where he calls for help, while his dog fights against a goblin commando mounted atop a vicious goblin dog. You arrive on the scene just in time to see the commando kill the dog with his horsechopper. The dog crashes dying to the ground as the commando's goblin kin (who were themselves cowering nearby as the dog was handled) throw up a cheer and emerge from hiding. The goblins appear distracted by their kill, and as they turn their attention to the man, they're backs are turned to you. You have the opportunity to attack with surprise!

OOC: I don't have time to get combat set up at the moment. But below is the experience and treasure earned so far. Prepare to take your surprise actions.

OOC: lol sorry scott. it's fixed. on my proof read i saw a comma in the wrong spot and like a dummy assumed that meant it just needed another zero.

Not one to lead the way normally, Jamir had his brace of javelins in hand and stepped up to lead the attack by flinging arcane energy charged one towards the nearest goblin.

Rather than announce their presence with some inspiring words for his companions or some taunting of the goblins, he held his tongue to let a weapon announce their arrival to do battle.

The javelin flew true and took the goblin in the back. The bard quipped, “Of course, with the lass not watching I am actually able to hit one.”

"Please, help!" cries the man in the blue doublet to anyone. The goblin commando atop the goblin dog leers as it marches towards the man, clearly savoring the smell of fear. The commando's three goblin kin follow close behind him, dogslicers in hand and bearing wicked grins.



OOC: Visual Aid Notes
There's no tactical map for this fight. Building 3 is the White Deer Inn. The man in the blue doublet behind the barrel is on the east side of the building in the center. The barrel is between him and the goblins, who are approaching from the east. The commando is about 10 feet away from the man in the blue doublet while the other 3 goblins are another 10 feet behind him in close formation. There are no other townsfolk within 60 feet of the scene. You are approaching from the south along Church Street. You are rounding the southeast corner of the White Deer Inn--right about where the T intersection is between Church Street and the side road that leads northwest to Cliff Street--when you spot the goblins and the man. You are between 50 and 60 feet away depending on how close you feel your character would march in the front of the party.

Begin surprise actions.

Goblin Commando: DR 3/armor (studded leather)

OOC: Feel free to narrate Dr. Jeckyl's role in the battle with another (perhaps very) nearby threat. But as an alternate, he will not be taking part in the actual battle.

Also, I added some clarification to the visual aid notes.

[sblock=North gate defenders]Dr. Jekyll climbs to his perch on the battlements of the north gate. He stands with his fellows at the ready when one of the sheriff's men looking out turns his ear toward the lost coast road.

"Do you hear that? " he asks, "Does any one else hear that?"

After a couple of seconds a chanting in the distance is heard in the goblin's guttural language.

"Careful, they seem to have a penchant for a love of fire." says one of the other defenders. "then we use fire against fire. says Dr. Jekyll as he pulls out a couple of vials adding in reagents an then speaking an incantation over it. the contents boils and changes into several shades of red as he waits to throw it.[/sblock]
