Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Alpha "crunch" discussion

My thoughts on what they changed..well the big ones anyhow
Half elves. I do like the removal of the free weapon feat not sure if human should get one though.
The fighter. like the changes to how armor and weapon training work very nice, and the capstone changes are nice as well.
Wizard . like the nerfing of universals school it needs to be a little weaker still
Feats. i like the unchaining and over all like the new feats well

Ok, 'splain. How is the universal school too strong, given that you don't get a specialist school ability if you take it? Not arguing. Just looking for clarification.

well its about as goos as the specialist schools right? They give up two school to get ther powers the universalist give up nothing.I am not saying they shouldn't get something but still they have is just too good,

I glanced through the updated Alpha last night and it looks like the biggest update is the revision of some of the Combat Feats. It looks as though they removed the "chaining" of feats... which was probably a good idea.
Agreed, as the "chaining" of feats was probably one of my biggest sticking points; I had thought part of the idea of the revision was to improve things for all classes, fighter included, not find new and creative ways to screw the fighter over.

combat feats are still there but chaining is gone.
Hey, combat feats are all well and good. It was the chaining part of it that made no sense to me, especially for those of us that play fighters are used to being able to execute some of these feats "at-will."

Yeah I was glad to see chaining go but I do like the combat feats even if ya can only use one per round . they have a nice feel
Okay, I guess maybe I do need to break down and download the Alpha 1.1 book... becuase depending on what gets lumped into the "combat feat" category, that strikes me was one of the dumbest things I've every read.

So a 3.5 character use both Cleave and Dodge in the same round (I recall those being "combat" feats), but a Pathfinder character can't?

Now Dodge gives you a flat +1 bonus to AC (against everything). With the bonuses to AC and to hit the fighter is getting as part of his class package, and the amount of feats a fighter can now posses, this is a good idea (only one combat feat active per round). Some combat related feats are not part of the combat feat catagory. I'm afraid that if you don't limit the bonus stacking in some way you'll end up with huge descrepancies between the classes. So while making the fighter stronger (inherent class bonuses vs. feat bonuses), it also makes them more versatile (more combat feats for more options during combat). I think it makes for interesting situations, if your surrounded by orcs you either go for dodge, cleave, or something else.
