Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder figures to replace DDM figures!!!!

Because they are made by WizKids the minis could use the click base. This would be a very elegant way to track various conditions for each character as there would be no longer a need for using separate markers.

The picture in the news post does not show this which would be a lost opportunity IMO.

The base size for a typical Clix base might be problematic for a game using a one-inch grid. A redesign of a Clix base for a one-inch grid might not be cost effective. It's a cool idea but seems difficult to implement.

It is problematic. A normal Clix base fits on a 1.5" grid.

They'd only have to do the design for a 1" clix base once, so maybe it wouldn't be too expensive.

Personally, I prefer plain bases that I can paint, add grass, sand etc.

Thanks,
Rich

I suppose they'd only go that route if they meant to put out more than a few sets, but then they might need to make more than one size, too, for creatures of larger size(s).

Me, too.

The Pathfinder Iconics are intended to be miniatures aimed at Pathfinder fans and those who may purchase the Beginner Box. These products aren't aimed at D&D players.

Take off your Paizo Cult Glasses and come back to reality. These minis are aimed at ALL pseudo-medieval RPG gamers, just like the DDM line was. This little offering is for generic PC classes. "Outfitting" them like a known character (with pretty generic gear) and throwing "Josephus Schmagenhoofer" on the base is a marketing gimmick for only a miniscule portion of the potential customer pool, there's a whole lot of games using the same type of characters and you bet your keister Paizo wants to sell to as many of them as they can.

I'm not a Pathfinder player, but these minis will find their way in to my collection just fine and eventually find some use. I'm a plasticrackfiend and my money is just as green as anyone else's.

Ah, I had completely forgotten about the Heroes sets from WotC. Now I remember that they exist, but will have to take a look at them to remember more.

*EDIT* So, about the same price per figure as the Pathfinder set - three for 10 instead of 4 for 13.... How were the paint jobs?

The Auld Grump

They were pretty solid for pre-painted plastic minis, just look out for the splotched ones like in every other pre-painted line.

This is my problem - paizo is making the exact same mistake WotC did - visible minis for too high a price (paint jobs on those packs were actually better than the "standard" line of minis - which isn't saying much I agree)

*shrug* I guess it is their line to screw up but I would like to see some monster pre-paints too (I mean who doesn't love the Pathfinder goblins?!)

Since remembering that there even was a line of Player's Handbook' figures I have only found a lone pack of Martial Heroes....

Ummm, I really don't have a wide pool to go by, even for that one release, but... were they all that bad? Going by that single pack I would take my chances with the random pack instead. (Or, more realistically place an order for a Reaper miniature that fit better.) Not only priced high per figure (compared to the random) but just bad. Even beyond the paint job I just didn't like them. :(

Hopefully whatever company paints the Pathfinder minis will at least make an attempt to keep the flesh on the flesh.

It might not have been overpriced minis that killed the Player's Handbook line, but over priced bad figures. (I feel the same way about the two player Starter set of minis, but that is in part because I don't really like what was done with Green Dragons - a pointy nose does not make it more fearsome.)
