Good for them. I'm glad to see the 3.x line continue to get support like this. And the amusing thing is that we have wotc to thank. If they wouldn't have blundered the licensing so badly, they could have stopped this kind of competition.

Does this mean there will be no copies at Gen Con?

They will have copies at Gencon.

They will also be mailing copies out to the distributor.

They also, at the time of the email, had set aside a few more for last minute preorders (but they expect those to be spoken for by today if I understand right).

Once all the orders go out though (including to the stores), and after they are done at Gencon, there will be no more available for ordering until November.

Meaning, if your local store ordered enough, they may have some extra copies, as might bookstores - but don't wait too long to check.

Of course, there are still those "caught in the middle" unhappy with either, so - brace for impact. ;)

I think we're really at the point where anyone still "caught in the middle" intends to be there. Pretty much no game is exactly what everyone wants. We all settle on what work best for us and house-rule the rest.

By all means, we should feel free to critique what we don't like, bat about remedies, compare with previous solutions, but there's no sense in getting undies in a wad over it.

So, buying the PDF will have to do (for me, then - until Nov.). Never as pleasurable as reading a book - but searchable and hopefully nicely hyperlinked.

(Edit: implied but worth making explicit)

Congrats, folks!

I thought it was a big deal and awesome when WotC sold out of 4e, and I think it's a big deal and awesome that Paizo has sold out of Pathfinder!

Any time sales exceed expectations, it's great news for publishers and for the hobby!

(And, Jack99, I lol'd and would +rep you, but this slow server is harshing my mellow.)

I would congratulate Paizo and all the fine people who work there, but unfortunately...

That was unnecessary. Gee--I wonder how the edition war keeps on percolating?

Kudos to James for the reasoned response, though, and a hearty congrats to Paizo. In one of my weekly groups, we're over 50 sessions into our Rise of the Runelords campaign using the Beta rules, and I can't wait to get my hands on my (preordered) book.

Looking forward to the years of Pathfinder ahead!

I just saw it as a dry humor. It was silly to argue that 4e selling out its first print run was meaningless, so I think some good-natured nose-tweaking is warranted. :)

And now, I can sit back and look forward to the inevitable "Paizo sold out its print run, and therefore Pathfinder is failing" threads. ;)

For the record, and just to be clear again, I think this is awesome, and I'm thrilled for the folks at Paizo. Good job, everyone!
