Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Players: What would you be playing/buying if PF didn't exist.

I have no idea. We'd probably be playing some 2e/3e and not buying as much. 4e would still be on the reject pile for my PF group.

That said, of course WotC lost sales to Paizo. They're in direct competition now and gaming dollars aren't unlimited. They lose sales even if players like both games if the buyer can't afford everything.

my son really drove our switch to pathfinder. 3.5 is his red box. I picked up pathfinder so we could play in the society games at gen con. we would probably be playing 3.5 or a derivative like trailblazer.

Savage Worlds, World of Darkness or L5R, most likely. Possibly still 3.5 or maybe 2E. Pretty much ANYTHING except 4E. Well, maybe not FATAL either...

I almost left the hobby because it started getting harder to find 3.5 players in my area after 4E came out. So I either would have left the hobby or tried to get a serious supers (M&M or Hero System) based group off the ground. More than likely though I would have left the hobby and spent the money and time on Boardgames instead.

I'm already playing C&C, so I can't really say I'd be playing more of that, though it is a possibility.

More likely it would be me starting a group to play either AD&D or AD&D 2e, with a mote of possibility that we'd be at least trying out Hackmaster (advanced, though more apt would be, Hackmaster the full version).

Of course PF accounts for some lost sales from WotC but I am really curious now much 5%, 10%, 30%, etc. (not that this thread will answer this question). The PF players I know wouldn't touch 4e with a 10 foot pole, except for the one guy I know that plays both but he uses the PF SRD and pirated 4e character builder so neither company is getting his money. :)

Like I said this is an unscientific survey but so far only one PF player says they would be playing 4e if PF wasn't around.

PF has around 40% of the old D&D revenue stream as of 2012. If they keep up the 30% annual growth rate they will have close to 20 million per year or around 80% in 2014.

What is the source of these numbers? And if true how much of this money would have gone to 4e if PF would not have been around?
