I had to check myself, to believe I really hope that folks at Paizo know this problem. For a long 3.X player this is somewhat a given, but when someone is starting/ joining after a long time? Things can get confusing...

Yeah, there is at least one thread on their forums about it:

James said it would likely be corrected in the 3rd print of the core rulebook, but I checked the errata and have not seen it in there. So it seems to not have made it into errata yet, though the Paizo guys do acknowledge it should be errata.

In the meantime if you have a Paizo forum account, follow the above link and click the FAQ entry at the upper right of the thread. That will flag it as a question that needs a FAQ entry to be reviewed by the Paizo guys. The more people saying it should be a FAQ the better chance it will become one.

Neat! I rarely visit Paizo forum, as it gives me severe archive-panic (so much traffic!), and I never actually gave the FAQ button much thought. Makes me love Paizo PR even more (FAQ's from what I've noticed too often consist of Questions We Wished People Asked ).
Alas, I gave you xp today already. Could someone cover me here?
