Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

The "auras" section is interesting to me.

I hope it works as well in play as I think it will - especially with creatures that may be able to sense such auras....

So far I've been somewhat meh about pathfinder, but the paladin looks a whole lot more powerful and more interesting than the core one.

So this paladin 10 times per day can heal himself for 6d6 damage, remove all sorts of conditions, as a swift action! Now that's the unstoppable force of justice.

That's definitely a significant improvement above both the old version and the Beta Test version. (But the Betatest version was _really_ bad, making Lay on Hands almost useless in combat... Too little healing for too much action cost)

I am really impressed with the paladin presented in the blog. I have never been a fan of paladins, but this version seems inspired. This character comes across as a self-sufficient, bad-arsed, holy-warrior, knight-errant, and leader of men.

While I can buy into the idea of Order and Chaos being cosmic forces, I have never been able to really accept Good and Evil as anything but subjective concepts. D&D 3.x irked me with its over-use of alignment based powers. I prefer to either not use character alignments in my games, or to use something like D20 Modern's allegiance system. I hope that Pathfinder doesn't make altering the alignment system too difficult.

I also hope that it will be fairly easy to re-skin Good/Evil aligned powers in Pathfinder as Positive/Negative or Yang/Yin energy based powers.

I wonder how well the final Pathfinder classes will compare power-wise to the expanded base classes in the various WotC 3.5 books. I also wonder how they compare to the classes from Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved. Any thoughts?

Yep, that paladin is a bag of awesome with rainbow sprinkles on top. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I actually want to play a paladin.

EDIT: what I wanna know is if there is a full on copy there, why do we have to wait til mid August!?!

We had 4 copies air-shipped from our overseas printer at enormous expense for promotional purposes and to bask in the glow of the new books (that editorial pit can get dark and depressing sometimes).

The bulk of the print run will arrive next month in time to ship to Gen Con and retail outlets for the August 13 release.

Paizocon is currently going on this weekend and the following was gleaned off the message boards from an attendant at the convention...
*Half-Orcs, Half-Elves, and Humans have a +2 bonus to a single ability score, and no penalties. Yes. Half-Orcs...

Well, I guess the half-orc not sucking was a pretty big deviation from 3.x, so I guess it had to be changed from the beta.
:)

Well I know this is the truth but I am going to interweb rage about it anyway!
I reckon it was not "bask in the glow of the new books (that editorial pit can get dark and depressing sometimes).
" so much as "rub your noses in it Mwahahahaaaaaa!!!! (that editorial pit is the pit of madness and nasty sharp pointy teeth)."
Like Morrus with his phots of the 4E Core 3 months before we even got a whiff of that new book smell;)
