Ooh, yeah, they do look like Isz. (I only saw the cartoon so I'm not sure how they are spelled).

Or Darklings from the Darkness. It is really an archetypal look for a mischievious little monster, like one poster said, tapping into folklore for a new look.

I second the minis thing!

Maybe Reaper will do some, both as metal and as prepainted plastic. Whip up a fast and fun ruleset for tactical minis combat ;) (Not quite serious about the combat rules, but the plastic minis would be nice!)

Yeah. Orange skin just looks dumb.

Goblin Isz

According to Wiki, its spelled Isz. I looked for pics of them, but didn't have any luck. I only have a white belt in Google-Fu.
Maybe not the best images of them, I did find some by using images.google.com that returned some results from www.the-isz.com. (Note: The site describes itself as "This is an online community with adult discussions, political discussions and general discussions." but the links below don't show any of that. Just FYI.)

But they do have that look. Also, when my wife walked up and looked over my shoulder while I was reading the Pathfinder blog, her first comment was "Awww, they're so cute!" Not sure if I should worry about that. Of course, my first thought was "New PC!!" so I can't really speak.

Actually, what the goblin song reminded me of as soon as i saw it is the dwarf song from the Hobbit:

"Smash the cups and crack the plates,
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!"

very very cool goblins though. I think i'll have to subscribe to this.

Actually this is incorrect. This comes from Dante's Divine Comedy. The actual virtues as held by the Roman Catholic Church are: prudence (wisdom), justice, fortitude, temperance, faith, hope, and charity (love). See here for more info: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect1chpt1art7.htm

But back to the goblins, I like the "new" take. I'm happy to go back to their fairy table/fable story roots. I've always liked the monsters that we feared as children to be similarly represented when we're adults. Despite loving goblins, I avoided D&D goblins because I couldn't stand how they were portrayed and the orange skin just didn't seem right.
Ditto. While I enjoyed the goblins in the Hobbit, it seemed like D&D's goblins never really fully got out from under their shadow. I think the Paizo take seems to nicely split the difference.

There. Subscribed. Kinda weird how they do it (you pay per issue!). Seemed kinda expensive to me, but we'll see how it goes once I get my first few issues. Here's hoping it's killer.

Look at it this way - if you absolutely hate the first issue you are under no obligation to continue receiving them. I think it is very customer friendly.
