D&D 5E PAX predictions?

Somewhat disappointed with WotC for skipping Gen Con this year. I understand if they would rather do seminars and announcements at PAX, but it really made it special playing D&D with WotC developers walking around and last year Mike Mearls DMed a table up in front of the main stage. This year just felt like any other con as far as D&D goes. I know there were a few guys running around from WotC, but not in any official capacity. With that being said, do you think they will have any announcements at Pax this year? What are your predictions or do you think the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide will be it till 2016?

Rage of Demons and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide will be it til 2016, yes.

They might announce next spring's products later this year (possibly even the mysterious in-house book Crawford mentioned they're working on), but they'll wait until after RoD has been out a little while first so no surprise bombshells at PAX.

With Rage of Demons still being forthcoming, I doubt they'll talking about the next storyline or spring book. I expect some panels on "what is D&D?" and "the current story". Stuff aimed as much at new people as ardent fans, and hyping their current offerings & the stuff coming up in the next few months. Given Pax has a heavy video game emphasis, I also expect a lot of talk of Sword Coast Legends. I expect some teasing of book content (both the Adventurer's Guide and Out of the Abyss) but little new information or revelations.

And, because, unlike GenCon, there's no one recording the panels, most of what is said will be missed and trickle down to the fans through tweets written by someone half paying attention or trying to type and listen. So half of what we learn will need to be taken with a grain of salt.

There's always someone recording them. You might not find the recording, but there's always someone recording them. Usually half a dozen someone's. All smart phones can do it these days, so you don't even need the digital audio recorders I used to use anymore.

Wizards did not skip Gencon. Mearls/Crawford already reported that they are focusing on different aspects of D&D at each con. Gencon is about gaming, so they focused on running TTRPG events, (Mearls and Crawford were there, walking through the ranks, not hiding behind a big platform/stage, they were very approachable). Pax is about video games, panels, seminars, so they are focusing on that there.

All the games that were run at Gencon were by Baldman Games, all were official games, sponsored by Wizards. The era of Wizards announcing products 6 mo-1 yr before launch are gone. They will announce when they are ready, and they are not going to use Gencon or any other con to push their products, they want FLGS and official WPN stores to do that. Again, read the announcement posted by Morrus on this website.

I dont think that SCAG will be it for 2016, Crawford stated he is "working on something big." Right now he is putting finishing touches on SCAG and probably late fall/early winter the next 'big' product will be announced. Crawford stated its not the next AP, (which likely gets announced around January) but something he's been working on for some time.
