PC Creation Limitations

The game I played which required use of non-PHB races and classes was fun - a changeling warlock, orc wu jen, catfolk ninja and half-giant psychic warrior make a surprisingly strong team.

43.) All non-humanoids
44.) All sorcerers

Each player is playing one personality of a character with MPD.

Each player is playing a single-classed PC, but the entire party can come together as a single Gestalt PC.

Randomly assign mental disorders to the PCs and have the first adventure be the escape from the Asylum.

Unless we're playing Dark Sun, which is cool enough despite its lack of gnome-age, I would slap any DM that demands "No gnomes" as a rule for character creation. :D :p

Quick edit: Err, or Rokugan, or Kara-Tur. Those are the only exceptions besides Dark Sun. And only possible exceptions, not definite exceptions like Dark Sun. :heh:

Let's just roll something random, and try to find an explanation for the results... :D

Playable Races

Humans: recently developed civilization, concentrated in grasslands and plains; relatively undeveloped magic, society focused on trade
[classes: Ftr, Rog, Wiz(Abjurer only), CloCle]

Desert Elves: all the few existing elves are descendant of a very old (egyptian-inspired) race and live barricaded in a few big crumbling cities in the middle of the desert
[classes: Ftr, Rog, Wiz(Abj/Con/Ill), CloCle]

Desert Half-Orcs: nomadic tribes and main adversary of the Elves
[classes: Ftr, Rog, SavBrd]

Elemental-Water Half-Orcs: a small group of Half-Orc that has over-developed their Water bloodline (see below); these few individuals usually live in extrememly secluded areas underground
[classes: Ftr, Rog, Wiz(Abj/Con/Ill), CloCle]

Jungle Dwarves: all Dwarves are an aggressive savage race that lives in the deep of the jungles
[classes: Ftr, Rog, SavBrd, CloCle]

Elemental-Earth Kobolds: rumored to be orignated as offsprings of evil dragons, all kobolds were magically transformed to be attuned to elemental earth many generations ago, in order to contrast the essence of water and life that flows through the other races; they are the main nemesis race of the world (rare good renegade individuals are possible)
[classes: Ftr, Rog, Wiz(Abj/Con/Ill), CloCle]

Dromites: a mysterious ancient race that lives mostly secluded in the highest mountains and sports psionic powers
[classes: Ftr, Rog, Wiz(Abj/Con/Ill), CloCle, Psi]

Maenads: an interloper race only recently (less than 30 years) arrived into the world from another dimension; possessing psionic powers, they claim some very ancient legacy with the Dromites; currently there is no Maenads society yet, and they live scattered throughout human cities
[classes: Ftr, Rog, CloCle, Psi]

Bloodlines

Elemental Water: e.w. represents the power of life that flows in every living creature; any race can have individuals who are born with a supernatural display of this nature. The only exception is Kobolds, who have purposefully tried to forsake it. For some reason, the Half-Orc race (perhaps because the only half-race in the world) had a group of individuals who displayed an even greater affinity with e.w., and became truly water creatures.

Black Dragon: the most common type of dragons have in the past tried to mate with humanoids in an attempt at corrupting their societies. Any base race can have this bloodline except Maenads who haven't been around long enough.

Doppelganger: true doppelgangers don't exist anymore, but their bloodline is still relatively common (humans only)

Classes (summary)

Fighter: all races
Rogue: all races
Wizard (Abjurer, Conjurer, Illusionist only): elves, water half-orc, kobolds and dromites (all 3 types), humans (abjurers only)
Psion: dromites and maenads only
Savage Bard: desert half-orcs and dwarves only
Cloistered Cleric: all except desert half-orcs

In the "useful" department, I've sometimes made my PCs all take Toughness at first level. It increases survivability and slows entry into prestige classes. Dispensations granted for PCs who need another feat conceptually and have plenty of hit points (at least 10).

An idea that I have toyed with is to run a game where all the players play a monster race (in my case I thought of different undead). Part of the idea was to have them face the "heroes". Now that I think about it, it sounds like running a variation of the Goblins comic.

Li Shenron, that is awesome. An all desert elves campaign would be terrific.

Thanks, but all I really did was open the SRD online, and roll a 30% chance for each class and a 10% chance for each race (including those from UA). Random always works! Chaos rulez!

I only added a tag line to give an explanation to the results, and chose the allowed class/race combinations (just because it was too long to roll for all them). I could have never come up with Water Elemental Half-Orcs myself... :p
