Gamespy has already reviewed ToEE. It's pretty much what I expected: good combat, shallow story. What's more disturbing is the mention of occasionally poor AI and controls.

The reviewers at Gamespot are some of the toughest around, so if they are impressed the game, chances are it'll be pretty damn good!

The lack of multiplayer dosen't bother me much, and I can live with the few interface problems and shallow story. It sounds like other than those shortcomings, the game is pretty solid.

Hopefully if this game does well, the engine will be used in other D&D games, much like the Infinity Engine, which was first used in Baldur's Gate, was also used by Planescape: Torment and the Icewind Dale Games.

Imagine how cool it would be to have a game that featured the deep storyline of Baldur's Gate II with the rules adherence of Temple of Elemental Evil.
