I have a Microsoft Sidewinder precsion 2 USB joystick. Last night it just stoped working. I looked in the game controller settings in Win XP and the profile was not there anymore. There was no update i downloaded or anything, it just stoped working. I tryed reinstalling the drivers for it but the computer is not readign it for some reason. I tryed putting it in different USB slots and same thing. Anyone know why it decided not to work all of a sudden?

Try plugging it into a different USB port, and failing that, try a different computer.

I would guess that it's probably dead though. I like the Extreme 3d Pro, which I purchased to replace my old Sidewinder 3D (9 pin, not USB).

Leo was talking about this on Call For Help the other day. It might be the USB cable, which may have shorted out. Apparently it's becoming more and more of a common problem with USB cables beginning to show their age. If so, the gamepad is likely toast. If you have to replace it, I recommend an XBox 360 controller, which is USB and makes a great PC controller.
