I think I've been misrepresented. I'm not actually suggesting two players role-play 'to the max' as some people seem to think I am, nor am I suggesting anything untoward. I am merely saying that I have always wanted to have that player dynamic, where two PCs are involved with one another. It adds a dimension to the role-playing and makes for good adventure hooks, character interaction and a potential for character conflict. Anybody who is suggesting I am encouraging orgies at my gaming table has totally misinterpreted me.

I have that stuff all the time.

In my low-magic campaign that has seen maybe 6-8 sessions, two pcs have indeed 'gotten it on', even though one of 'em is a closet homosexual knight who yearns for his brothers in arms.

An arranged marriage and demands for an heir can go a long way. :)

I also have, in the same game, one pc who is constantly coming on to another (who is, hmmm, only very slightly responsive- and only when he says or writes passionate things in elven).

I've found that romance is hard to encourage in-character, but there are ways- the arranged marriage, philtres of love, etc. The best advice I have, though, is know your group. Some people really enjoy this aspect of roleplaying; some get creeped out. Some are only okay with it if the players involved are opposite gender; some don't even care if the characters are opposite gender. :)

I think it's partly your fault. Without asking a question or whatever, you have not really given a people a direction to think in. For example, if this had been a problem, you would have gotten more answers similar to demiurge, about others who have had the same problem.

Personally, I'd rather have love interests who are NPCs because more can happen that way. First of all, you know nothing about her background, so she can be pretty much anybody. If she turns out to be the BBEG, you're like woah, and you must do something about that. Since she's your love interest, you'll have to decide if you really want to kill or if it is possible to turn her to good. It's more difficult for the PC to become the BBEG, especially if he's totally unaware of it. Also, if the NPC dies, you have a call for vengeance. If the PC dies, well you still have that same call, only the other player is now annoyed and having to make new character.

I'm not sure if this is what you wanted or anything, but I'd recommend being a little clearer in what you want from now on. For me, I'm about to go start a thread called 'I like cheese' where the only thing I say is 'I like cheese' and see how it goes from there.

Fair enough, but you might want to change that thread title there captain. Look at the bright side though - you almost got Kevin to spit his beer out from the 15th floor balcony when he read that title.
