Peacetime apology

I remember the edition wars and the ignore list it spawned. I periodically clean out the list and it is empty now. Hopefully I do not fill it up again.

Good luck with that. I've been adding to mine lately because of edition warring - and I didn't have anyone in it before just a year ago or so.

So, up until a week or so ago, I'd been away from ENWorld for a very long time. That being the case, I want to say this, and I hope this isn't an inappropriate place for it.

During the 3E/4E split, I said some things that some people interpreted as insulting to 3E, PF, or people who played them. I never intended my comments to be taken that way, but things were pretty emotionally charged, and I wasn't nearly as careful with my words as I should have been, especially as someone working in the industry.

So, to anyone I offended at the time, my sincere apologies.

Welcome back. This is probably a better time to return, because the mood on these boards seems to be more positive and harmonious around 5e. Kinda how like folks felt about D&D during the early 3e years.

Why, Celebrim, did you feel the need to post all that? There is not one good thing that can come out of it.

What, no apology for your comments towards Planescape? :p

I'm just kidding man. I don't think anyone really takes things all that seriously. They just like to talk as if they do. Certainly people can't actually care that much that a particular individual has a different taste or outlook in gaming than they do.

If someone does care that much, and that person feels the need to vent their frustrations, I suggest going online to play some Call of Duty multiplayer. Those people are not shy to let you know what they think and you won't have to worry about Umbran banning you for it.

Good on you mr Mouse. There is always benefit and completion in taking responsibility for one's actions, and (most importantly) the impact they've had on others. Pretending it didn't happen or it didn't matter is not productive; starting your own "truth and reconciliation" commission will provide the space for newer and greater things to show up.

To that end, I apologize for adding fuel to the fires with unnecessary hyperbole, which subverted chances for communication and community.

peace,

Kannik

Really? I believe you that there's some edition warring still happening, but I'm just wondering where; I haven't really seen much here in a long time.

I dunno man, I remember the internet in 2000, and folks were definitely not positive and harmonious about 3E D&D. They may have been harmonious about it here/EricNoah's, but that was because this was easily the best site for news about the upcoming edition. Away from here, the mood was ugly...though maybe not 2008-ugly.
