D&D 5E Pedantic pet peeves

Sacrosanct

Legend
Let me add another one. In a thread about peoples' pet peeves on D&D rules, 10 pages are spent discussing the pronunciation of minotaur and satyr. ;)

I've used apostrophes to distinguish when vowels are pronounced individually as opposed to as a diphthong (say, like "zoology" would be "zo'ology"), and similarly for distinguishing consonants from consonant clusters (say, like "springtime" would be "spring'time"). Of course this is used solely for made up words where the pronunciation may seem ambiguous.

In the case of a word like zoology (or coordinate) you would use a diaresis to indicate this. It looks an awful lot like an umlaut. But it's there to indicate each 'o' is a separate sound.

The New Yorker (for example, or is it the Atlantic?) writes coöperate.

People mixing up terms in the action economy. Basically "bonus action" as a term causing all sorts of problems, either players thinking they can just make a second action as a bonus action, not knowing what sorts of things they have that actually qualify as bonus actions, or thinking simple free object interactions or shouting a word or phrase while running count as bonus actions. More of a pedantic pet peeve about the RAW not really doing a very good job with nomenclature or specifying which sorts of things are which.
