San, sadly there is nothing about the Shadow Walkers other than a brief mention. No pr-class, no really cool feats that work in conjuction for favored of Drendari. (Btw I can't give TOO much away! You'll just have to trust me, it's a pretty decent book.)

Sul, the fortress doesn't have many left but it's spread out a lot. If you're familiar with the Twisted Rune, it's similar deal. However they use specially made Penumbral doorways (or shadow gateways if you will) that allow them to transport themselves between each domain. The cartography is excellent as it's done by Ed Bournelle (Hi Ed! ;) )

Alric, you should be able to find it I'm sure. I just pre-ordered mine. :)

Hi Nightfall - we gotta stop bumping into each other like this.

Thanks (again) for the compliments. When I do a map that you don't like, be sure to let me know :) People are gonna start thinking you are on my payroll :P

Cheers - Ed

What do the Whisp monster and Shadow Walk spell look like ?

Specifically, how does shadow walk 2, penumbral son of shadow walk compare to shadow walk senior of the PH ?

Step into shadow to travel rapidly.
Source: Player's Handbook
School: Illusion (Shadow)
Level: Halfling 7, Pbr 7, Sor/Wiz 7
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Area, Target or Effect: Up to one touched creature/level
Duration: 1 hour/level (D)
Saving Throws: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
To use the shadow walk spell, you must be in an area of heavy shadows. You and any creature you touch are then transported along a coiling path of shadowstuff to the edge of the Material Plane where it borders the Plane of Shadow. The effect is largely illusory, but the path is quasi-real. You can take more than one creature along with you (subject to your level limit), but all must be touching each other.

In the region of shadow, you can move at a rate of up to seven miles every 10 minutes, moving normally on the borders of the Plane of Shadow but much more rapidly relative to the Material Plane. Thus, a character can use this spell to travel rapidly by stepping onto the Plane of Shadow, moving the desired distance, and then stepping back onto the Material Plane. You know where you will come out on the Material Plane.

Shadow walk can also be used to travel to other planes that border on the Plane of Shadow, but this requires the potentially perilous transit of the Plane of Shadow to arrive at a border with another plane of reality. The transit of the Plane of Shadow requires 1d4 hours.

Any creatures touched by you when shadow walk is cast also make the transition to the borders of the Plane of Shadow. They may opt to follow you, wander off through the plane, or stumble back into the Material Plane (50% chance for either of the latter results if they are lost or abandoned by you). Creatures unwilling to accompany you into the Plane of Shadow receive a Will saving throw, negating the effect if successful.

Ed: I just know what I like ed. Your maps are clear and concise AND they look nice too. :) So as long as they keep you and Daniel Day on the cartography short list, I'm happy. ;)

Gez: There's no picture of whisps but they aren't really seen. All they appear to be are whisps (like the name implies) of shadow/foggy stuff that are found in the penumbral gateways.

Shadow stride is actually the name of the spell. Unlike it's older brother, this one functions a little oddly in that it works more like air walk than shadow walk. Thus it's possible to fall from going from shadow to shadow.

Cool. Well I got a week and half to wait for Shelzar... so we'll see.
Btw apparently in Forbidden, the forsaken elf god IS alive and back to the way he should be. You can thank Kadum apparently.
