People Who think Bugbears are Kinda Cute Anonymous...

The guys I game with think I'm insane, but...

I'm working on something that involves a lot of looking at the Monster Manuals and I've found that, oddly enough, I think a lot of the creatures in the various Monster Manuals are rather cute.

Like , really cute. Like, "I want one as a pet" cute.

So I'm flipping through the monster manual last night with my boyfriend and every time we see a picture that makes me go "Awwww. I want one", he proceeds to read the description, which 9 times out of 10 is going to be something like "The ----enjoys tormenting humans and eating live flesh for fun". To which I can only respond, "well, we all have our...flaws...it's still adorable".

Maybe I'm just weird. Or in dire need of a pet. But does anyone else think that Achaierais are pretty or that Shocker Lizards are cute? Or otherwise not menacing looking?

I've always thought bugbears sounded cute, with their morningstars and all. Kinda like big teddy bears. Awwwww.

I know...and they have kinda cute faces...sort of like those dogs that are so ugly they are cute. It's weird.

I get the feeling that bugbears are rather smelly, so probably wouldn't make the best house pets. Firenewts and shocker lizards, though, very cute. I would certainly own one of each, although I would need a flame/electricity retardant suit to be able to feed them.

And I would be somewhat afraid for their lives given the fact that I do own a housecat (see related thread).

I can see it with the bugbears, big eyes, small nose floppy ears, and a cuddly bear related name.

The achairie bird thing I do not see as cute, however.

And yes go to the humane society and rescue an animal, no monster manual critter compares to my dog.

Acheirie don't seemso cute when they're bringing up iron walls to trap you, casting silence so you can't cast spells and then beating you senseless. But, maybe it's just me

I have a weakness for scaly things, and the shocker lizard is absolutely my favourite monster in the world ever. What a fantastic pet they would make!

I always sneak one into my games when I DM, no matter what the setting...

You should have seen the horrified look on my face when my PC's decided to barbecue one.
