Peregrinations of the Shard

"Not through summoning, but perhaps calling. I believe some priests can beseech their god for such aid, at a cost. Though I seem to recall that it depends on the deity's will..."

"I knew there was a trap in that. Wouldn't there be some other choice of creature?" asks Rinaldo.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Without knowledge planes and having never met such creature, Rinaldo cannot suggest the Thoqqua, but it is the only creature who doesn't glide who could be summon through Planar Ally.

Now, if we can summon it to do the work, we have to determine if we want to pay at least 1500gp for that spell and if the creature will leave a tunnel that can be use by the team.[/SBLOCK]

(OOC: I don't think Thoqqua leave behind a tunnel for others to use. SRD says:

SRD said:
Most burrowing creatures do not leave behind tunnels other creatures can use

And in the Thoqqua description, it doesn't call itself out as an exception)

OOC: Yeah, it's what I thought. We would need an Ankheg, but that's a magical Beast, so cannot be call with Planar Ally. Too bad. I'll have to think about another tactic.

ooc: I think Umber Hulks were useful for this kind of tactic, but sadly they are not in the SRD only the MM.

"With non-detection, invisibility sphere, silence, and dimension door, we should be able to get in. However, distance is a problem. Perhaps some illusions could mask our movement until we are close enough to employ our spells. It will take a large amount of our combined spell compliment to manage both in and out without a rest. Which means should anything require physical combat beneath the temple, I will most likely be joining those of you on the front lines with my staff." offers Tenebrynn.

"Twenty minutes... with a few silence spells and invisibility sphere, we could make an approach, but we will need to coordinate ourselves pretty finely and try to avoid as much as possible these elves."

"Two invisibility spheres would seem to suffice, yes, and a similar number of silences. Of course, with the rapid speeds of Phantom Steeds, the issue then would be keeping everyone in the tiny radius of the Invisibility Sphere when everyone is moving the entire diameter in distance each second."
