Periodicals sales finally announced!

It certainly seems like a promising new era to those of us working on the magazines.

For those of you asking - all of the staff has been retained by the new company. Chris Thomasson will still head up Dungeon and Erik Mona will still run Polyhedron and the Living Greyhawk Journal.

Living Greyhawk Journal will still appear in the pages of Dragon, and Polyhedron will still be partnered with Dungeon.

Bump; but also, there is no mention of this at all on the WotC sight; therefore, I'm taking a skeptic's approach. When WotC announces the sale on their own site, I'll believe it.

The entirety of the press release has been quoted on GamingReport.com, as well.

This isn't a rumour. When you have a press release from a trusted source, it isn't a rumour. WOTC is notoriously slow about updating their web site.

Why does someone say that every time WotC sends out a press release? If it's a press release, it's official - it doesn't get any more official than that.

Although, yeah - I could have written both press releases myself and posted them to fool you all! :D

I love when people say that. Dude, your obviously new as you only have 7 posts, but WOTC send all there stuff directly to Morrus, long before they bother putting it on there site.

When Morrus says it's a rumor, you can doubt it, but when he says press release it's only a matter of time before it hits there site. They don't use that site for releasing important information. They use Morrus.

It's not like it used to be, though. These days, the only thing they'll say is in the form of press releases which they send out to various sites etc. You don't get answers to question any more; not even friendly refusals or off-the-record comments, just a direction to the press office who deny everything until a press release appears two weeks later confirming it. Everything is said in "corporate" language, not friendly human language (if that makes sense - I mean, there's more than one way to say "Sorry, we can't say anything about it right now" and "We are unable to comment at this time." just isn't English if you get what I mean. It's cold and unfriendly.)

Luckily, there are some people inside WotC (or who are close to WotC) who'll say things. But it's not the same. :(

HMM...

As a D&D gamer, the news is great.

As a Star Wars gamer, the news is not so great. I was hoping it would come back from its current hiatus status, but it was not meant to be.

Jesse, thanks for the update!

Can you tell us how the magazines may change and what sorts of articles you and the public are interested in seeing.

I am glad that two gamers are in charge of the publications.

Also, will the publications have a reader survey anytime soon?

Two quick questions to Jesse:
1) Is there going to be an interruption in issue release and/or subscription service during the changeover?

2) Is this the end of the Polyhedron minigames now that SW is horning in on that space?

Good to know

Good to know. Don't reduce the page count, you hear??

Well, I'm bummed out that Star Wars Gamer is effectively gone. It was a fine magazine, even if it had a lot of stuff I had no use for (the CCG stuff, for example). The bit about Star Wars articles being in Polyhedron is interesting; will the d20 minigames still be in that mag?
