Persistent Spell [CA]

Nail, don't invisibility and mirror image have effects that can be dispelled?

EDIT - I mean "discharged"!

Err....yes?

Do you mean to ask: "But, why would you want to cast persistant Invisibility, since as soon as you attack, it's gone?"

Hey, I just made the list, man. I don't say you hafta use 'em. :D

.....and frankly speaking, I could see a use or two for a Persistant Mirror Image, even when other 8th level spells are competing for inclusion in your prepared spell list.

Wait.

Are you claiming Invisibility is a spell "whose effects are discharged"?

Hmmmm....

I actually meant to say discharged, not dispelled. Whoops!

It seems to me that invisibility is discharged once you attack, and Mirror image is discharged once all the images pop. I'm not arguing that they'd be handy to have around until that time, but are they even legitimate to make persistent?

Alright, let's try this.

In the "Magic Overview" section of the SRD:
SPELL DESCRIPTIONS-Duration said:
Touch Spells and Holding the Charge: In most cases, if you don’t discharge a touch spell on the round you cast it, you can hold the charge (postpone the discharge of the spell) indefinitely. You can make touch attacks round after round. If you cast another spell, the touch spell dissipates.

Some touch spells allow you to touch multiple targets as part of the spell. You can’t hold the charge of such a spell; you must touch all targets of the spell in the same round that you finish casting the spell.

Discharge: Occasionally a spells lasts for a set duration or until triggered or discharged.

Looks like "discharge" is associated with an attack spell in which the caster "holds the charge". Invisibility ain't that. ;)

Invisibility's range is "personal or touch"... It is my understanding that this is not the same as having a fixed range nor is it the same as having a personal range. I'm pretty sure you can't use persistent spell on invisibility.

It's best used on spells like shield, expeditious retreat, divine favor, etc. anyway.
