PH II Speculation

Actually, since its release is likely coincide with Eberron 4E, I am guessing:

Psionics
Artifice
Dragonmarks (or Tattoo Magic, if they want to genericize it)

PHII in 4E?

Did anyone notice how under "Player's Handbook" it says in smaller type: "Arcane, Divine and Martial Heroes" ? This leads me to believe there will be no rogue/thief in that book, and that 4E's PHII will likely be labeled something like: "Scoundrels and Psionics." ?

Wait... you think that for the first year of 4E, there won't be a rogue class?

The thief/rogue will for sure be considered a "martial" class.

Ki - like that idea, something a little like SW Force, not really martial or arcane, good thing

Psionics - powers of the mind, enough said, and it would be interesting if psionics didn't have a separate book but were part of PHB 2.

Devouring - you are what you eat.Gain power from drinking blood, wearing monster parts, wearing tattood made of blood, gain knowledge from eating brains, and so on.

I've already seen somewhere that the rogue will be considered a martial class. Additionally, on the wizard's page/digital initiative/online dragon an article was put up yesterdaytalking about power sources. Again, the rogue was mentioned as a martial class that excels at getting more out of his skills than members of other classes (as opposed to the fighter that gets more out of his weapons than other classes).

More interesting to me, the paladin was mentioned as drawing his power from a divine source (like the cleric). Does this mean we can expect to retain the paladin as a core class?

WotC has already been quoted as saying the Rogue is considered a "martial" character, though it seems they will focus on pushing skills beyond the limit, rather than weapon skill. So not to worry. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drdd/20070820a

I knew this had to be restated! :D

When the part about martial, arcane and divine came up, it was stated that the rogue would be martial.

Martial means that they stick with the mundane, the nonmagical, and take that to heights unachieved by others, starting with abilities that start with the extraordinary and will eventually scratch the border of impossibility.

In this article, the rogued is said to take skills to the max. What weapons are for fighters, skills are for rogues. They're definetly core. They know they can't keep rogues out of the core books - that was clear to them ever since they found a sawed-off paladin-mount's head on the pillow next to them (the paladin's head would have come next) :] ;)

I agree that psioincs will most likely be in PHB II, but we already have a 4th edition martial art book coming out next year I hear, so I don't know about Ki/Chi.

I also think races that are excluded from the first PHB will be included, and maybe such dudes as warforged and shifters, what with Eberron being released the same year.

I really want my 4th edition Incarnum!
