PHB errors and reprint schedule

How many are numerous? I don't recall seeing more than about 4 or 5 instances turn up.

That is just based on scans of character sheets put up and second had readings from store owners who arn't trying to nitpick but answer sweeping questions. Just wait till the fans get them and then there will likely be dozens of very small errors found in addition to the big ones we are noticing already.

consider me offended.

Scott,

I LOVE D&D and I am really grateful to Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, and all the staff and those who support them for enabling this great product to be such a fun hobby.

If I sparked a negative flame here it was unintentional, however I am still sorry. You don't deserve to be unjustly insulted by a fan base that you participate in good faith in. Thanks for your involvment and for your frank aid.

Yes the community (including me) will nitpick and compare to an imaginary ideal of perfection (after all we are good with our imaginations). If at some point we cross the line please keep letting us know.

I'd hate lose out on the opportuity to reason together.

-Thanks.

We're just pulling your pigtails as you sit in front of us in class. It means we like you.

At least WotC is good at making errata. They could just let us stew and wonder whats going on. At least, in my opinion.

They are? 3e errata was a fiasco, ultimately including it only in published products (e.g. Complete Psionic and the Special Edition core rulebooks). The folks at WotC undoubtedly have dozens if not hundreds of reported errors that they never got around to investigating, confirming, and correcting. This lack was admitted internally and is, by my understanding, something they intend to do better this time around.

At least two of the "errors" were intentional, due to space limitations. This has nothing to do with poor editing and everything to do with poor judgment. There's no excuse for intentionally releasing incorrect information--I assume that the logic was that, since it was a prerelease, no one would know any better, but clearly that assumption was faulty. And that's not even considering the miserable idea to publish a sucky half-elf, when so much brouhaha was made over making the half-elf good now.

I can take criticism pretty well, especially legitimate crits. We are by no means perfect. The books will have errors no doubt but we'll continue to strive for perfection.

Your posts have been fine.

The one from W.E. Wheeler that compares us to a murderous dictatorship was over the line. No one in the games business deserves that comparison especially when:

I think it's silly to wait just because of a few minor errors. You're denying yourself the fun of the game because they got some spelling wrong or put an X where there should be a Y.

If my parents had put an X where there should be a Y, I'd be a girl.

Not that that would be an error as such, just pointing out that stray Xs and Ys can make rather a big difference. I'd be much less likely to be posting on this nerdy messageboard, for example.

Scott, as a bit of constructive criticism, I know a few old time gamers and quite likely former employees of TSR might be a tad offended by you comparing the former staff of TSR as old passed out drunks. Insulting your elders is a bit rude, don't you think?
