D&D 5E PHB Races Redone

Here's my attempt at Gnomes, trying to maintain the original flavor.

Gnome

Size

Gnomes are between 3 and 4 feet tall and average about 40 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Gnome Cunning

You have advantage on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic.

Eidactic Mind

Having an exceptional visual memory, you have advantage on any Intelligence check to recall a piece of lore.

Forest Gnome

Natural Illusionist

You know the Minor Illusion cantrip. Choose Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma as your spellcasting ability for it.

Speak with Small Beasts

Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Small or smaller beasts.

Fade Away

Immediately after you take damage, you can use a reaction to magically become invisible until the end of your next turn or until you attack, deal damage, or force someone to make a saving throw. Once you use this ability, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Rock Gnome

Tinker's Knack

You know the Mending cantrip. Choose Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma as your spellcasting ability for it.

Artisan's Touch

Once per short rest, you may transform raw materials into a finished object as if casting the Fabricate spell, but one size smaller than that spell's stated limits. Your spellcasting ability is the same as Tinker's Knack.

I wonder why Twiggly the Gnome jumped the queue straight to Gnomes.....wouldn't be some kind of bias would it? lol

Back to our scheduled Halfling:

Speed 25ft
Lucky as per PHB but add Once per Long rest gain advantage on a single Ability Check, Save or Attack Roll.
Brave as per PHB but also add on a successful save against a fear effect gain 1d10 + Proficiency Bonus Temp HP.
Halfling Nimbleness as per PHB but also +1 AC against creatures of large size or bigger.
Naturally Stealthy as per PHB

With the base PHB halfling I found the abilities underwhelming as activation happened rarely, this combined with slower movement and limitations of being small the race required something extra.

Jewel of the North, formerly know as vincegetorix
For the Halflings I'd give them something like this:

Nimble Stature. You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours and such creatures give you half cover against ranged attacks. When an attack misses you while a creature within 5 feet of you is granting you cover against that attack, you can use your reaction to have the attack target that creature instead of you.
