There are ranged weapons in the PHB other than composite longbows and slings?

For a one-shot, I played a Warcraft troll with a blowgun and javelins; other than that, I don't remember seeing a PHB ranged weapon other than those above, or indeed any non-firearm ranged weapon other than those above, in YEARS. (D&D only; I've seen plenty in other games.)

I use them all, and others besides-

Spears, daggers, throwing axes...

What my PCs use depends on who my PCs are.

Crossbow (both types, but heavy is extremely rare unless it's actually D20 Modern fantasy), sling (backup for monks and some halfling archetypes; seems pretty wimpy), composite longbow (no reason to get the wimpier one), composite shortbow (likewise), bolas (fun to use), repeating light crossbow (for when someone wants to play a drow that isn't a Drizzt-clone; also very common with drow NPCs).

I noted you missed out on spears; they're backup, of course, unless they're magical and returning, and even then the range is pretty wimpy. I haven't run an Ancient Rome d20 "Modern" campaign so I've yet to use javelins.

I didn't even know there was a repeating heavy crossbow.
