I've used shuriken in a Scout build. It was mostly done for flavor, but honestly it wasn't that much of a power drop compared to a shortbow.

Shortbow with quickdraw was a strictly superior choice, but less cool. I got the DM to give me exotic weapon proficiency for free, to make up for the lower power, so I didn't even get hosed there.

So I don't know how much that counts, but there you go.

I needed an option for daggers. I've seen several dagger-throwers.

Other than that, I voted light crossbow and longbow. Many melee-oriented characters in games I've run go for the light crossbow because you can load and shoot in one round and still get 1d8 on damage. The ranged-weapon specialists almost always seem to prefer longbows.

Or throwing axes, or light hammers, or tridents either...

You left out all the good ones.

:p

I went with the ranged weapons that were strictly on the ranged weapons tables and not those which, like many of the thrown weapons, were on the melee weapon tables.

Bows and Crossbows see plenty of use, depending on which weapon proficiencies someone has access to.

As a PC, I used a Net once. It was not nearly as helpful as I might have hoped for it to be, but it had its moments.
