Pick that logo

That's awesome.

It is, but Deborah of Dog Soul Publishing offered me something three and a half times more awesome and I'm going to take her up on it.

I'll be using my buddy's logo for the ENnies, because, hey, he's a buddy. Plus PBG is such a large corporate behemoth that we can't make these kinds of changes without submitting it to a pre-approval committe which then forwards their reccomendations to the marketing department, which in turn has to do their customer surveys before sending the logo to the board of executives.

So, thanks all and thanks especially to Gareth and Deborah for putting me on the right track.

They all look nice but don't forget that you should be looking at both a color and B&W version of the exact same logo before choosing. Most game books have a B&W interior and your logo will be on the title/credits page in B&W, and on the cover in color, possibly. That means they will be one page flip away from comparison.

Personally, after oscillating for a while, I decided to go with a strictly B&W, simple logo for CMG. Looks good on the interior page, and it looks, not only the same on the cover, but also stands out when surrounded by mostly color.

I can't think of any companies that use alternate logos for color or B&W situations, but I suppose you could do that, too.

Yeah, leaning towards #3 as well.

The yellow couch without shading in #4,6,7 is right out. There just isn't enough detail/contrast to even notice it's a couch. The shaded version in #5 is slightly better, but still mainly a big yellow blob. And I have no clue what that thing in the background of #2 is.

Out of the seven you have up, that leaves #1 and #3. I like how the letters in #3 seem to be sitting in the couch (as opposed to floating in front of it, like #1 or #5), so that's my pick. Heck, you could even try indenting the couch a bit where the letters are "sitting".

That doesn't mean you couldn't save any of the features of the other logos though! You could easily color the couch in #3 yellow and the letters black. Or have a dropshadow behind the letters instead of 3D letters (just make sure the dropshadow still makes it look like they're sitting in the couch). Or use #3 with one of the other fonts.

This was also my thought on first viewing. I like that the letters are sitting on the couch, not just in front of it.

And I also can not figure out what that thing is in #2. A tent or a sleeping bag, maybe? Please, tell us!
