Pimp my dwarf

Ok, I'm playing D&D this weekend and we were told we could have a 3rd level character to start. I've decided on a dwarven fighter/cleric of Moradin (we are playing in the Forgotten Realms). I'm going to go Fighter -2 Cleric-1. Please give me some ideas of skill/feat/spell combos that would make my little guy a truly terrifying dwarven bad arse.

[Silkie Earthshield]I don't know 'bout skills and feats, but he BETTER have my money this time before he gets a pimp-down! [/Silkie Earthshield] :)

Sorry. :o

You want him to lay waste with a melee weapon, I presume, using the cleric level for buffing? Also, will this be short-term or long-term play? If the character is only for a short-term game, I'd rather say go with Ftr2/Barb1 for maximum beat-down. If going Ftr2/Cleric1, there aren't many first level CL 1 buffing spells that mean a lot. Only when you hit second level buffs do you start getting really good ones.

For feats, save weapon focus and instead get the War domain for weapon choice. Pick up either power attack, or pick up extra turning (to combat the CHA penalty) and one or more of the divine feats from Complete divine, to turn turning attempts into other things.

Skills are simple -- concentration should be maxed to cast defensively in mid-combat, and healing is useful to have at least one or two ranks in for long-term healing care. Eventually, you want healing to at least five ranks so as to take 10 on long-term care.

IS this the direction you're heading in for this character?

Grab the divine feat from the PHB2 that lets you burn a turn attempt to deal the amount of damage an enemy last did to you. It's full of dwarven flavor, esp. if you run into some giants.

Oooh, neat ideas so far.

(Henry, it's going to be a long run game. My friend is running the Freeport stuff but changing all the setting yotz so that it will be set in Luskan...yaaar!)

spells: divine favor, shield of Faith, magic weapon(d)
Scroll: DF, Shield of faith, lesser vigor

improved initative
WF: DwAxe(domain)
Power attack
Scribe scroll
exotic: Dwarven Waraxe (so you are still armed while casting one handed)

Rule interrpretations vary, but sword and board clerics should have difficulty casting.

Tatics - use first round to cast 1 buff spell, wait for enemy to come to you.
only cast 1 buff per fight, if you find a boss, and have prep time use the scroll.
capitalize on out of combat healing by using vigor instead of CLW.

Take the Dwarven Cleric racial substituion levels from RoS - it's so worth it, and great for a melee slugger such as yourself.

Pious Templar, Hammer of Moradin and Warpriest are all great PrC's to aim for (esp Pious Templar due to it's free Weapon Spec ability - go for this PrC first!).

If you can find it (it's now out of print, but I managed to get a copy) Hammer and Helm is a great 3rd party book by Green Ronin/someone else that gives some great dwarven options (also look out for Bow and Blade, Wrath adn Rage, and the Giant one which name escapes me at the moment ;))

Dwarven waraxe is definately in.

(That was one pimped out dwarf Drowbane!).

I like the spell ideas presented earlier as well. I'm liking where this guy is going.
