I was wondering if there was any word on when you guys plan on releasing Solid: The d20 Modern Blaxploitation Experience?

The previews looked really good and I'm still excited about seeing this!

I thought Otherworld creations went belly up?

No, I think they are around, they are just having some cash-flow problems, like a lot of small-ish d20 companies, and so things are really really really really delayed.

I thought Solid sounded like it would be pretty cool, but was puzzled why the felt they had to have a supernatural conspiracy. Why "Blaxploitation X-Files" rather than just "Blaxploitation"?

Hmmm, I don't remember that part of Solid, but it would fit the genre.

Blacula. Scream Blacula Scream . Blackenstein. Dr. Black and Mr Hyde. The Hunchblack of Notre Dame. (Okay, that last one isn't real). There was a whole subgenre, most not having "black" in the title.

I also think there's a strong sense among some publishers that d20M works best when it is FX-heavy rather than FX-lite.

This from the FX-lite guy... but I do think some publishers feel like you need FX in the mix.

Hmmm - I wonder if they've thought of putting out a PDF version first, like you usually do? From what I remember of the preview, it looked like it was done.

I don't. I'm so far into the standard d20 modern, that when I was questioning the use of Smite in a modern day campaign in Grim Tales, Wulf mentioned Buffy as an appropriate role model. Completely accurate on his part but I was so struck by how many genres d20 can be used for, I usually mentally gloss over those with FX unless it's a specific campaign like Urban Arcana.

Hmmm. I never got the impression Solid! was going to be a heavy FX supplement other than to pay some homage to where the Blaxploitation genre crossed over with horror and the supernatural.

The reason I asked was because I just finished reading The Game Mechanics' Voudon rules from Modern Magic, and thought they would be cool to use with Solid! to do something like Sugar Hill, my favorite Blaxploitation horror film, in a d20 Modern Dark*Matter campaign I'm currently running.

That, and I wouldn't mind seeing what a magical pimp cane can do. :)
