Pirate dress code question

Whenever I'm in doubt about such things, I find I'm best served by checking the covers of Avalanche Press RPG supplements; their fashion sensibilities are usually unerring, and I know they have a book about pirates.

Hmm, now that you've mentioned AP this begs the questions:
Do I wear a bra with my midriff, no buttons, tied-at-the-bottom silk shirt or do I go "commando?" Flats or 6" heels?
