Piratecat, I have succumbed! (Warning: some OSM spoilers)

....Once you've found potential players through this method, run something other than D&D. I highly reccomend Feng Shui. The system is fairly simple, and you can call the game "Active Movie Night" and they'll never know they're gaming. Most people like movies, and Feng Shui is really just make your own movie role playing. If you're looking to attract women, base your plot on something like Charlie's Angels, very chick power and lots of cheesy fun.

....

Hmmm, maybe Heather will play Feng Shui...
{Runs downstairs with a copy of this post - minus the dog references - and Feng Shui} :)

Thanks for the excellent advice, KidC - I'll certainly start thinking about some of these things. I think I'll have to get hold of Feng Shui, since (a) I laughed my socks off at Dr Midnights writeup and (b) Jo really likes James bond movies, and that kind of line of action movies - more action less blood is the kind of thing that she really likes.

Two of my gaming buddies have wives/girlfriends who normally sit next door watching TV... but last night spent at least some of the time watching us perform (it was a combination of Cobble and then Mayor Hob in the big town meeting that drew their attention...). It may be that "sales resistance" is being slowly broken down.

I think that one of those "murder mystery" things might be the best first choice though... I'll see what she says to the idea of that.

I certainly won't be wasting any opportunities that arise from SW ep 2 though :)

And Piratecat - the first segment of the storyhour is online here: http://www.enworld.org/messageboards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6689

I've got to go and feed a baby now, so I'll get cracking on the next bit later. I left them hearing a hissed warning message from the other side of a door in the mine (after 6, 6 failed attempts to turn zombies...)

Cheers

Well, I ran almost all of OF Sound Mind on Saturday-Sunday for a fourteen hour gaming session.
For some reason the mere fact that I ran a fourtneen hour session is intimidating me in regards to actually writing the thing out, but we did end up going through most of the module (save only for the return from the mountain).

SPOILER SPACE:

Overall the adventure was alot of fun. I was amazed at how efficent everyone was in getting through things. They went straight to the inn, looked at the journal and from there went directly to the mountain. They avoid most of the side paths in the interior and were able to solve all of the puzzles and riddles with a minimum of ease. If they did have any problems it was with charm effects. Both instances where those happened the PC fared quite poorly.
It was also amusing to see how they reacted to the kids psionic antics (I ended up modifying it so that the girl had also been embedded with a crystal and had the molecular agitation power)
When we left off they had gotten to the dragonstone and two of the PCs were charmed and acting very weird while the others tried to figure out how to do something to the dragonstone. One of them was even holding the Dragonstone to him and calling it master.
They ended up giving the crystal whistle to one of the psionic kids because they thought that might be a way to destroy it and they lacked any psionic members. Instead the child smiled at them and used it on two of the PCs.
:)
This was at like 5:30-6:00 am.
Hopelly they will figure out the clues they have been given in regards to what they really need to do to blow up the crystal next session.

How easy is it to make the adventure psionic-free? If it's plausable, I'll defintely go pick it up. I was kinda surprised to see it at my local store last time I was there, they don't carry a whole lot of d20 stuff. I exclaimed, "Hey, PKitty's module!" Everyone looked at me funny.

Piece of cake; I give guidelines for doing so, and what you'll have to change. I think it works pretty decently as an arcane module, too.

Anyone else who's read it have an opinion? I'm probably biased. :)

A horse is a horse, of course, of course
And no one can talk to a horse, of course
That is, of course, unless the horse
just became a crystalhead!

Go right to the source and smite the horse
It's animal cruelty we'll all endorse
You're gonna have to use some force
To slay the crystalhead!

Great adventure, Piratecat! I was just rereading it this afternoon, and decided to give my own small tribute.

Daniel
