Pirates of the Carribean.

Got a thing for Pirates? Or Mr. Depp...

Yeah, sorry I have a "thing" for Johnny (and I'm a happily married heterosexual man). I have liked/loved most of his movies and own a number of them. He is one of my all time favorite actors. His film Dead Man is one of my favorite movies (I'm also a big fan of Jim Jarmusch).

That said, I am soooo looking forward to this movie even though it is a Disney movie (Treasure Planet, despite it flopping at the Box Office, wasn't that bad and Holes was great). Yeah, I thought the Disneyland ride was a little campy (they replaced the maidens - who were chased by bawdy pirates - with food) but the movie has Geoffrey Rush as the bad guy! I loved him in Mystery Men! (okay, House on Haunted Hill sucked). It will be intersting to see how he does inThe Life and Death of Peter Sellers.

Anyway, I saw the trailer and thought it looked great. Hopefully, the movie will also be fun.

It's got Orlando Bloom in it, the guy whi played Legolas. I think this is his first major role other then Legolas. He got that one right out of film school. The movie looks better then I expected.

Name a good pirate movie from the last twenty years...

Yellowbeard ;)

So, anyone else up for dressing up as pirates to go see this one? I'll be the one in the front row, flinging popcorn at the previews, while shouting "We wants the redhead!"

(edit: forgot to mention that Disney will also be releasing a Haunted Mansion movie, starring Eddie Murphy, in November.)

Kidnapped was good. It was a made for TV movie a few years ago. But then again, I like almost any pirate movie, except Yellowbeard. I loved yellowbeard as a kid, but Irented it with my wife a few years back and I didn't tickle my fancy. I still love the stagger, stagger, crawl, stagger, crawl, crawl...
