Pirates of the Spanish Main Role Playing Game -
Have any of you played it yet? I picked it up a little over a year ago but haven't have the opportunity to play it yet. My son wants me to run a game for him and some of his friends (they've played the Pocket Model/Collectible Card Game version). How has it worked?

IIRC, it's the same system as Savage Worlds, which is given almost universal accolades for living up to its motto of "Fast! Furious! Fun!"

Savage Worlds, the game mechanics behind Pirates of the Spanish Main, is great for kids. I'm cutting my son's teeth on it right now, and there are several people over on the Pinnacle boards that speak regularly about the campaigns their kids are in, or the games they are running for the kids at the library as part of a youth program. It should work fine with kids and/or adults (and even adults that act like kids). You may have to watch for any adult/mature subject matter, but other than that, you are covered as far as the system is concerned.

Played it the LI gameday. It's pretty good. SW isn't my favorite system for fantasy, but it's well-suited to swashbuckling.

Universal Accolades, eh? Boldly spoken.

I don't find SW fun, and some situations that I'd describe as furious weren't in a good way.

I'm not foolish enough to use a word like "universal" without a qualifier of some sort... That would universally be a stupid thing to do!

You know how when you say a word over and over it starts to lose its meaning? Right now the word "universally" sounds incredibly silly in my head.
