Pixies

What do I do?

  • Ban it all! Make her play something else!

  • Allow it all! Everything sleeps, every fight!

  • Ban the arrows! That :):):):) is broken!

    Votes: 17 31.5%
  • Let her have a limited number of arrows! She gets them, but only like a d4 or d6 of each!

    Votes: 19 35.2%

I voted "ban the arrows" but what I really mean is let her have access to getting arrows, but she has to pay for 'em just like any other magic item.

The arrows are not a special pixie power, they are magic items that pixies often carry.

EDIT: I didn't vote in your poll, since you didn't include the correct option. :)

Exactly.

Why didn't to OP post this option in the poll?

Besides the arrows (which the pixie pays for with character wealth)....

Does the OP understand that Pixies have an ECL? (LA + HD) .....I'm kinda under the impression that the OP hasn't picked up on that.....

Make the PC buy the arrows.

I think they'll find that something with such high LA is not much fun to play. Being so many HD/caster levels/skill points behind the rest of the party makes you a useless eggshell for many levels.

Pixies have the ability to use the special arrows as an extraordinary ability. It looks like whenever they fire an arrow they get to choose if it is a normal arrow, a memory loss arrow, or a sleep arrow.

If you do not want the player to have them then take that special ability away from their pixie and reduce the creatures level adjustment to compensate for the loss. You say that this pixie was unable to use irresistable dance right?

Not really; it's not listed as one of the abilities of the "pixies as characters" section:

Pixies As Characters
A pixie character exchanges its 1 HD of fey for its first class level.

Pixie characters possess the following racial traits.

-4 Strength, +8 Dexterity, +6 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom, +6 Charisma.
Small size. +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
A pixie’s base land speed is 20 feet. It also has a fly speed of 60 feet (good).
Low-light vision.
Skills: Pixies have a +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks.
Racial Feats: A pixie receives Dodge and Weapon Finesse as bonus feats.
+1 natural armor bonus.
Special Attacks (see above): Spell-like abilities.
Special Qualities (see above): Damage reduction 10/cold iron, greater invisibility, spell resistance equal to 15 + class levels.
Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan. Bonus Languages: Elven, Gnome, Halfling.
Favored Class: Sorcerer.
Level adjustment +4 (+6 if the pixie can use irresistible dance).

That is true, and it seems to be an oversight since without it the character pixie is not a real pixie as the pixie in the block has it as an extraordinary ability.

The part that you quoted also does not say that they keep fey traits either so if we go just by that we do not know that they are proficient with all simple weapons nor that they need to eat, sleep and breathe.

If it is an extraordinary ability for all pixies then the character should have it if he is playing a pixie. Unless the dungeon master specifically says otherwise. In this case the same way that I would assume that the pixie had to eat, sleep and breathe just like all of the other pixies.

If someone was going to play a balor they would get a vorpal sword after all. That creature has an ability that says so.

HD doesn't matter here... but LA 4 is tough. Pixie DR helps though.

Does someone here think they are too tough compared to half-celestials or half-fiends? I think not.
