D&D 5E Planar rift and Dimensional Shackles

Hey folks. So if you have Dimensional Shackles on a creature and someone throws a bag of holding into another bag of holding, would the creature be sucked through the Rift created or would the Shackles prevent it?

The shackles say

In addition to serving as mundane manacles, the shackles prevent a creature bound by them from using any method of extradimensional movement, including teleportation or travel to a different plane of existence. They don’t prevent the creature from passing through an interdimensional portal.

The bag of holding says

Placing a bag of holding inside an extradimensional space created by a Handy Haversack, Portable Hole, or similar item instantly destroys both items and opens a gate to the Astral Plane.

The gate spell says

You conjure a portal linking an unoccupied space you can see within range to a precise location on a different plane of existence.

So I'd say a gate is a portal, and thus the shackles wouldn't keep you from entering it. They would of course block the plane shift spell and similar effects.
