Planer Druid ideas

It is my duity to inform you that Bolo Brandybuck, Halfling Druid and Verdant Lord died last night.

(But read the story hour tomorrow to find out what happened.)
I didn't have time to ask Wizardru about the PRC. We were too busy getting our buts handed to us.

New concept.

I have been mulling this over and think I have come up with a PRc idea even more in character with Bolo. The Evolutionist.
Bolo has from the start been Awakening plants and animals (5 trees, 5 wolves and 3 hawks at the moment) and more are likely to come. When Savage Species came out I instantly thought that Bolo should be able to at epic levels attach Templates (for everything but undead) to standard monsters paying a set amount of EXP for doing this. Imagine having an animal companion Dire Tiger with the Fire Template.
The effect would be similar to the Awaken spell in that the alignment of the "evolved" animal or plant would change to match the druid's and they would see the druid as a friend and be considered part of the druid's animal companions if there were slots for them or just be friendly and willing to help if the animal companion slots were filled.
In addition to this is a feat that every Evolutionist gains at 1st level. Evolved Wild Shape:
The druid can expend 2 wild shapes for that day at the same time becoming an amalgam of the 2 forms. such as expending an animal wild shape and an Elemental wildshape combining the 2 into a Rhino with the Earth elemental template (for instance).

I'm thinking about more abilities that would come that impact the druid him/herself since the ability to add the templates is of such limited use in and of itself.

Basic requirements :
Must be Druid level 20+
Knowledge Nature 20+
Handle animal 20+
Animal Empathy 20+
Knowledge planes 10+

Any one have any thoughts on this so far?

Just thought of this:
New "spell" for the Evlutionist.
Summon Evolved Creature.

It would be treated like a Summon Natures Ally spell but designed like the Psionic power Astral construct.
Because of the magic used these beings would be temporary but the combinations would be astounding.

That's EXACTLY the concept I had when I made these Elemental Summon Tables -- they're based in power off of the Astral Construct tables!

Now the idea of adding an animal "base" is very cool. I wonder if I could adapt these Construct Table entries into nine Templates with a fixed CR bonus. Hmmm...

(Anyway, to pimp the tables themselves: :) http://klimt.cns.nyu.edu/~fishman/DnD/summon-tables.html )

IMC, the ability to add a Template to a Familiar or companion (or Paladin's mount, for that matter) is just a spell, but it costs 2000 XP to cast. The Template is permanent -- can't be dispelled or Disjoined, just like the effects of Awaken can't be dispelled or Disjoined.

-- Nifft, proving that pimpin' is easy

I was looking to make the exp lesser as the character grew in class. What spell is that BTW? It may be interesting to see if I can add a template to a Player Character.
(I can see Scorch with the fire elemental template... scary!)

I'd only allow the spell to target a Magical Beast (Familiar, Awakened animal, Paladin's mount, etc.). I'd call it "Enhance Magical Companion" or something like that -- it's really WAY too powerful for a humanoid to gain -- since it's basically a Prestige Race in a can for a fraction of the PrRace cost.

Maybe if Scorch got Reincarnated as a bird -- it'd give him a very Phoenix-ish look.
