Vervain:[sblock]The warlock's new companions sported a sizeable array of enchanted arms, armor, and other curios; other than that, though, Vervain's enhanced sight revealed nothing out of the ordinary.[/sblock]
Downstairs, the company was greeted by a quartet of watch-officers; all were uniformly clad in bright red breastplate, and one -- presumably the ranking officer -- bore impressive, sweeping spikes on his epaulets. Longswords seemed to be the standard issue, and each guardsperson also carried a sturdy wooden trucheon looped in their belts. One guardsman, positioned near the body of the fallen attacker, carried an odd pole-arm in lieu of a sword; the device was set with a curious pair of curved jaws at its business end. Another officer tood nearby, taking account of the testimonies of the boarding house owner and remaining guests.
The ornately-armored guardsman stepped forward to intercept the group , followed closely by one of his subordinates.
"I'm Measure One Listell of the Harmonium," the first officer began in a deep, stern voice. His eyes flicked over the group. "Which of you wants to tell me what went on here?"
István & Sonata[sblock] The guardsman started slightly at the sight of the downed reave, then looked back to the gnome, with a note of awe. "An impressive feat, if true. You'd better go inside and give your testimony to Measure Listell -- you'll know him once you see him. Both of you," he added, raising his lantern to better illuminate Sonata, who had been lingering in the shadows. "Leave the injured reave here for now; Notary Amasa and I will watch over him." He nodded to his fellow officer.[/sblock]
