planescape conversion...

How come...

No one ever mentions the most excellent Gith book that Smithzerai is heading up!?! ;)

I for one am still hanging around after submitting my adventure hooks. Ashy, Ken, if there are still monsters to be converted let me know.... Glad to hear there will be some more time to manage the masses on the project too. ;)

As I said, the core group of PS'ers (those that have been faithfully hanging around and dealing with my constant lack of forthcoming information...) are still here and working hard, depsite me. ;) Those are not the folks that I am talking about; I was speaking of a ton of new blood that came in, said they wanted to help, and then literaly vanished when Ken and I started handing out assignments. It is those people that have me a little steamed under the collar, but anywho.... :P

Just backing up what Ashy said. If people are willing to help out, be honest about your committment. If you can't be a regular contributor or might fade away after a few weeks, that's fine - just tell us!! :)

But the flip side of that is the need for strong leadership. An internet based team of dozens of people who probably don't even know what each other's real names are let alone what they look like is a difficult beast to keep moving.

So that's why I'm trying to make a stronger personal committment (backed up with specific dates and all) to give some better direction to these projects. That way with a stronger presence, it'll be less likely that people will pop in, help out, and then vanish. And when a few do (as will probably always happen), the others won't get discouraged and drift away as well.

I'm starting to get as excited about the Planescape products as when we first begin the task. I'm sure that once we get rolling and actually get the new setting out there and being all of our other projects we have planned, I'll start bleeding karach or something. ;)

I'm still here boss!

WOW!

Man I had no idead that much was going on.... that's really god to see that people are interested in converting PS. Specially with all the rumors about WoTC stopping the D&D production, or at least the official part. And the ideas for the factions sound good, specially the one that includes alternative mechanics in an appendix. Man that's good work!

What sort of work do you need done? I own practically every planescape supplement that exists, and have been running it for years. I would be willing to lend a hand to keep it going.

If you want to help, drop me an email at the address in my sig -we'll get ya to workin.... ;)

I know, Gish - faithful as ever! Yer like the Great Road - always there and always dependable! :)

Man, I feel kinda outta the loop. And here I was, thinking I was all informed...:)

Yeah, there's a lot of people working hard as all get-out on it. And theres a good chunk of people working pretty hard on it. And then there's some people who say they'll work hard on it, and then don't show up.

I remember one e-mail that sent out an assignment...and two people replied to it...on a lits of, what, 20-some?

All I can say is that I hope I haven't been a dissapointment...:(

Anyhoo, the news about how soon it's going to be is wonderous. It's something *I* didn't know, as one who is avidly working on the products. Heck, I didn't even know we decided for sure on how to do the factions...

I dunno...maybe it's just the lack of a public announcement for how far we've gone. I'd volunteer to do said announcement, but...well...I'm not reliable enough right now. ^_^;

Yar, anyway, I consider myself knowledgable enough to know that it'll be great, regardless of the tribulations it's been put through. Nothing good is easy, and if that's anywhere near truth, this thing should be awesome with as hard as it's been. :) With the tidbits I've gotten, I'm very encouraged...even if it seems like I'm just hit by random raindrops of what's going on.

Anyhoo, Ashy, it's good to see you rant once in a while...you're usually such an easygoing fellah. :)

When will it be done? To quote perhaps one of the greatest fans any setting could have: Soon. Very Soon. ;)

::chuckle:: I hear ya, KM...

BTW, you've NEVER been a disappointment, since we first started chatting over the PW forums. :)

But, your post does illustrate just exactly what Ken and I deal with from day to day - this project is SOOOO BIG and SOOOO spread out that one hand does not even know the other exists. Now imagine trying to coordiate and run all of that... :P

But, it will be worth it in the end. :)
